Description
Serve as trusted counsel to school leaders and boards on governance, policy, and risk management
Handle student discipline, enrollment/admissions issues, and student/parent disputes
Advise on employment law (hiring/termination, investigations, wage/hour, accommodations)
Draft and negotiate contracts, handbooks, policies, and MOUs
Manage pre-litigation strategy and litigation (state/federal court and administrative matters)
Provide training on best practices, compliance, privacy/data security, and records
Partner with a collaborative team that values practical solutions and outstanding client service
Requirements
Active California Bar (required)
5+ years advising/representing private and/or independent schools in California
Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
A collegial, detail-oriented, strategic approach and commitment to client service
Bonus: experience with nonprofit corporate issues, religious/mission-aligned schools, investigations, privacy & data security, or policy/handbook development
