Description

We are seeking an experienced Civil Litigation and Business Attorney with 5 to 10 years of legal practice in commercial litigation and business law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation and/or corporate law, contract negotiation, and property-related disputes. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support for litigation matters stemming from real estate acquisitions, contractor disputes, leasing, and financing transactions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Litigation:

• Represent clients in real estate-related disputes, including breach of contract, title claims, landlord-tenant disputes, boundary issues, and construction matters.
• Handle all aspects of litigation including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, court appearances, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Work closely with stakeholders to develop litigation strategy aligned with business objectives.

Business Law:

• Establishing new corporate entities and revising existing ones.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for purchase and sale, leases, loan documents, easements, development agreements, and related instruments.
• Manage closings for business sales and real estate transactions.

Qualifications: 

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active license and in good standing with the Maryland or Virginia Bars.
• 5–10 years of experience in real estate law, with substantial experience in both transactional work and litigation.
• Strong understanding of civil litigation, corporate structures, real estate law, contract law, and lending practices.

Preferred Skills:

• Proficiency in legal research and drafting pleadings and discovery.
• Experience representing developers, property owners, landlords, tenants, investors, or lenders.
• Familiarity with commercial leasing and financing arrangements.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with efficiency and precision.
• Detail-oriented with excellent negotiation, drafting, and problem-solving skills.
