- Experienced Family Immigration Attorney
Description
We are seeking a mid-level Immigration Attorney with 10+ years of relevant experience, licensed to practice law in Texas, to join our Dallas-based team. This position involves managing a diverse and active caseload focusing on both family-based immigration and removal defense. The ideal candidate is client-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced legal environment. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
Requirements
Family-Based Immigration (USCIS Practice)
Review a wide range of immigration applications, including I-130, I-485, adjustment of status, waivers (I-601A, I-212, I-601), I-589, N-400, K visas, FOIA requests, and consular processing.
Advise clients on immigration options, eligibility requirements, supporting documentation, and case strategy.
Provide guidance and preparation for USCIS and consular interviews.
Collaborate closely with paralegals to ensure accurate, timely, and persuasive filings.
Removal Defense (EOIR / Immigration Court)
Represent both detained and non-detained clients in immigration court proceedings, including appearances before the BIA when necessary.
Conduct client intake and assessment, including on-site at detention facilities; develop comprehensive case plans and legal strategies.
Draft legal briefs, motions, and applications for relief such as cancellation of removal, asylum, adjustment of status, and waivers.
Attend master calendar and individual hearings; liaise with expert witnesses, medical professionals, and community partners as needed.
Stay up to date on changes in immigration law and policy; communicate legal developments to clients and internal team members.
Cross-Functional Responsibilities
Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients, ensuring they are informed of case progress and next steps.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and local organizations to deliver comprehensive legal services.
Efficiently manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.
Participate in professional development activities including CLEs, mentorship, and active membership in relevant legal associations (e.g., AILA).
Travel is needed for USCIS interviews, ICE visits, or out-of-state hearings.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 2–4 years of immigration law experience with a strong emphasis on both family-based petitions and removal defense.
Education & Bar Admission: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; active member in good standing with the Texas Bar.
Legal Competency: Demonstrated excellence in legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and courtroom presentation.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with legal case management systems preferred.
Language Skills: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
Personal Attributes: Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competence, empathy, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and care.
