The Domestic Violence Action Center (DVAC) is seeking a Staff Attorney to join our legal services team and stand alongside survivors of domestic violence as they pursue safety, justice, and healing.

About the Role
As a Staff Attorney at DVAC, you will provide trauma-informed legal representation to survivors of intimate partner violence. You’ll work collaboratively with our advocacy team to ensure clients receive holistic and compassionate support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carry and manage a caseload of 25–35 active family law cases
- Represent clients in Family Court, including hearings, drafting pleadings, legal research, and litigation
- Collaborate with advocates and paralegals to ensure seamless client-centered service
- Provide legal support to our community through the DVAC Helpline
- Contribute to policy development, case acceptance standards, and legal outreach efforts

Additional Details
- This position reports directly to the CEO and Manager of Legal Services
- Regular attendance at case reviews, community trainings, and legal reporting is expected
- Must be able to work at the DVAC office and attend court hearings on Oahu
- Prior written approval is required for outside employment

Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Hawaii
- No pending disciplinary actions or past ODC complaints
- Litigation experience or willingness to litigate
- Familiarity with family law, Hawaii Family Court, and domestic violence issues
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Passion and empathy for working with survivors of trauma
- Understanding of feminist legal principles and the dynamics of family violence
- Commitment to a collaborative, culturally aware work environment
- Desire to grow professionally and advocate for social justice
