DESCRIPTION:SouthernArizonaLegalAid,Inc.(SALA)ishiringaManagingAttorneytoworkin its Sierra Vista office. SALA serves nine counties in Arizona and eleven Indian Reservations. The office provides legal services to Cochise, Graham, and Greenlee County residents. The Managing Attorney will be required to supervise a staff attorney and two paralegals. This individual will provide civil legal services in a variety of cases including contested domestic relations, evictions, public benefits, and consumer cases.
MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS:
1.Applicantsmusthaveatleastfiveyearsoflegalexperience,includingsupervisoryexperience; and be a memberof the Arizona Baror pass the next exam; applicants licensed for 2 years in another jurisdiction may practice by special rule.Experience in legal services is helpful.
2.Applicantsmustexhibitahighdegreeofsensitivitytotheproblemsofthelow-incomecommunity and should be able to work with low income and community groups. They should have initiative, effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural setting.
3.Applicantsshouldbeknowledgeableintheareaofgeneralcivilpracticeonbehalfofthelow- income community.
COMPENSATION:
Salaryrange:$58,656-$101,915DOEplusManagementPremiumof $10,000;upto5%additionalcompensationavailabletoindividualsfluentinSpanish.SALAprovides financial assistance to attorneys responsible for law school loans. SALA has an excellent benefits package including health insurance, pensionplan, and generous leave provisions. SALA will pay up to $3000 to support relocation to Arizona.
