Company History

A Vision for Something More and Breaking Away from the Traditional Path:

The Bertolino Law Firm was founded in 2003 by Tony R. Bertolino with a vision to build a client-focused law practice that truly makes a difference in people’s lives. Before starting his firm, Mr. Bertolino spent about a year working at a law firm, Hilgers & Watkins. The experience was valuable, but it also made him realize something important. He wanted more.

Mr. Bertolino did not want to be confined to the rigid and demanding life of a traditional law firm. He wanted the freedom to build something of his own, to create a law firm that reflected his values and allowed him to serve clients in a more personal way. He wanted more autonomy, more balance, and more time with his family. He also wanted the challenge of being an entrepreneur, not just a lawyer.

Humble Beginnings with “Door Law”:

When Mr. Bertolino opened his solo practice, he practiced what is often called “door law,” taking on whatever cases came through the door to support his family. That meant handling a wide variety of matters, from family law to commercial litigation to bankruptcy, and even other types of cases that helped keep the firm going in those early days. It was an exciting but challenging time. He was building a business from the ground up while also ensuring his family's well-being.

Building a Stronger Law Firm:

That shift in mindset changed everything. Mr. Bertolino learned how to work “on the firm,” not just “in the firm.” Over time, he began to “fire himself” from roles that others could handle better. He hired talented professionals, delegated responsibilities to support staff, and built a team that shared his vision for what a 100% client-centered law firm should be.

A Life-Changing Case and Finding a True Calling:

One particular case reshaped the direction of the firm entirely. In 2006, Tony represented a single mom who was a nurse in Houston. She had received a complaint from the Texas Board of Nursing, and her career and her ability to support her children were at risk. Mr. Bertolino worked hard and quickly got her case dismissed. He never forgot the tears of relief in her eyes when she realized she could return to work and continue providing for her family.

That moment was life-changing. It showed how rewarding it was to help someone protect not just a job, but their entire livelihood and future. From that experience, Mr. Bertolino knew he wanted to dedicate his career to defending licensed professionals, protecting their careers, their reputations, and their ability to keep doing the work they love.

A Law Firm Devoted to Professionals:

Since then, the Bertolino Law Firm has grown into a practice devoted to professional license defense and helping those whose futures are on the line. Through this growth, Mr. Bertolino and his team have stayed committed to one guiding principle: a 100% client-centered approach. This is why the firm has so many heartfelt reviews and testimonials from clients. The Bertolino team truly cares about the people they serve and fights tirelessly for them.

Core Values That Guide Us and Staying True to the Mission:

The firm’s core values are simple but powerful: client-centeredness, compassion, trustworthiness, attentiveness, fearless advocacy, results-focused strategies, innovation, and a commitment to growth. These values guide every decision made and every client represented.

Today, the Bertolino Law Firm has grown from a small solo practice into a trusted advocate for licensed professionals across Texas. Even with that growth, the mission has never changed.

Looking ahead, the firm remains dedicated to protecting the careers, livelihoods, and reputations of professionals who dedicate their lives to serving others. This is not just what the firm does. It is who they are.
