Company History

OUR START
After a decade in “big law,” Joshua Weaver and his wife, Melissa Weaver, founded their own law firm in 2014 that focused almost exclusively on healthcare. In the summer of 2016, Ashley Johnston and Joseph Nelson left their large law firms, and with Josh, formed Weaver Johnston & Nelson, PLLC a premier healthcare-focused law firm that provides legal services to its clients at more reasonable rates. Weaver Johnston Nelson is proud to have five attorneys who are Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization: Josh Weaver, Ashley Johnston, Joe Nelson, Kevin Mitchell, and Vicki Wanjura. With only approximately 74 attorneys in the entire state of Texas who are Board Certified in Health Law, our firm’s depth of expertise in this area is unparalleled. Since its inception, the firm has quadrupled in size. Now, Weaver Johnston & Nelson has one of the largest groups of healthcare attorneys dedicated to advising healthcare providers in the State of Texas.

As the firm continues to grow, so do the ways in which we can assist our diverse client base. Our expanding practice areas include corporate, litigation, transactional and securities law.
